Help! Mommy question!

If any of you new or more experienced Moms are reading this and have any suggestions I am at a loss! So far Maggie has been a really good eater and will pretty much devour anything we give her. Recently though she has been really funny about her food. After few bites she will put her chin in the air, make a face and scream. She will eat turkey chili and yogurt but is not happy with cereal and fruit for breakfast and gets mad after about 3 bites of veggies or fruit for lunch/dinner. If I give her something she can feed herself she does a bit better but the girl cannot live on cheerios alone! So....1. Any suggestions for finger foods she can feed herself at 8 months? 2. Any way to get her the daily amount of iron when she refuses to eat her cereal? Just when I think I have something figured out...

Are you nursing? If you're not she is probably getting enough Iron in her formula. If so, you can use infant drops but she is probably fine. Maybe she is teething and it hurts to have anything acidic in her mouth? Wes would eat any type of baby food and it is a constant battle to feed Megan. She is eating cheerios, corn, cooked carrots, broccoli, those chopped frozen mini veggies you can steam, little pieces of cheese, wheat bread, teething crackers, etc. It is probably just a phase so don't stress yourself out too much:) Cottage cheese is good too because although messy, they can scoop it into their mouth with their hands:)

Elizabeth does the same thing now. She will not let me feed her anything for breakfast. She does the freeze dried fruit with cheerios for breakfast. She lets me feed her cottage cheese and yogurt, so she does that for lunch to get her protein and iron. She does well with peas and chicken and rice and rotini pasta for dinner. Be careful if you do vitamin drops with iron...they stained E's teeth.

Erin, I'm enjoying looking through your pictures. :)

But to answer this question, have you heard of those teether strainer things? We bought them but it was after she was already eating whole foods, so it pretty much just served as a teether. You can put fresh fruits, veggies, ice (for teething) or whatever and they can grab on and suck through the netting and get nutrients from there.

Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-Fresh-Food-Feeder-Pack/dp/B000GK5XY2/ref=pd_bbs_7?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1226038985&sr=8-7 I hope that works! Otherwise, google fresh food feeder. I got mine at ToysRus in CT, and it was a different brand but same idea.

Just a thought!
